Kent Christian School

Education Services

We are particularly distinguished by the specialised tutoring and supplementary educational services we provide through schools and councils to help a variety of young people improve their educational attainment. These include pupils who may not be performing to their potential for a variety of reasons. They could have special needs, may have developed challenging behaviour, or could simply be underperforming through a lack of enthusiasm or other personal factors. These pupils could come from a range of abilities including gifted and talented.

Overseeing the quality of our tuition service is the KCS Education Services Department. This comprises a team with years of experience teaching and managing in schools, as well as working in Alternative Provision.

What do we offer?

Catch-up Tuition. Kent Christian School works with schools and academies across the UK providing highly effective one-to-one or small group tuition to help pupils at all Key Stages attain the best levels and grades they are capable of achieving. This has ranged from “GCSE catch-up” tuition for those pupils on the borderline between a C and D grade in years 10 and 11, through all other year groups including Primary level. Many schools have arranged tuition on the school premises, but a significant number have also organised one-to-one home tuition. The schools with whom we have worked have continued to use our services over several academic years because of the positive outcomes observed in terms of improved academic results and the quality of our administrative support and response times.

We provide a catch-up tuition for those children who fail to reach level four in Key Stage Two exams when leaving primary school at 11. Kent Christian School is able to provide one-to-one and small group tuition to help Year 7 students have a successful first year of secondary school and be in a stronger position to manage the demands of the secondary school curriculum.

Pupil Premium. Kent Christian School provides tuition for pupils on Free School Meals (FSM) and children in care, who are statistically only around half as likely as those not on FSM to achieve the five GCSE benchmark. This tuition can be paid for using state funds allocated expressly to raise the attainment of these pupils – the Pupil Premium. Kent Christian School can also help set up or support summer schools to assist disadvantaged pupils such as those on Free School Meals to make the transition from Year 6 to Year 7.

Pupils at Risk of Exclusion, Excluded, and/or with Special Needs. Kent Christian School are specialists in providing tailored programmes of support for young people with Special Educational Needs and Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties. We have a wealth of experience tutoring excluded pupils and those at risk of exclusion, and have a proven track record of providing effective support where other provisions have broken down. These programmes are always planned and supervised by a member of our Education Services Team, alongside the tutor(s).

ESOL Tuition by Kent Christian School provides small group and individual tuition to young people for whom English is a second language. For some councils and schools, we provide this tuition during the summer, in order to give children a head start when they begin school in the autumn. In other cases, this is provided during or after school.
