• Behaviour, Discipline and Exclusions
Discipline plays an important part in the school life of any child and it is a condition of admission that parents guarantee to support the staff in enforcing school rules and procedures. Absence, except for illness, is not permitted without previous permission from the Principal in response to written application.
A child’s attitudes, conversation and behaviour are to be in harmony with the high standards of Christian conduct that are expected of children at The Christian School. Rules and policies of the school will reflect Christian standards in courtesy, respect, kindness, morality, honesty, dress and general demeanour. Consistency in Christ-honouring behaviour and attitudes is seen as basic in the child’s walk before the Lord in all realms of activity, home, church and community.
WITHDRAWAL OF STUDENTS
Parents should give half a term’s notice if they need to withdraw their child from the school. If a previous agreement is not reached, all fees will be payable until the end of the period of notice, even if the child does not attend. No documents or reports will be issued until all payments have been made.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
The King of Kings School recognises that parents have asked staff to assist them in training their children. Our whole programme is designed to develop the spiritual and academic qualities that characterise each child. We encourage self-discipline and awareness of the needs of others at all times. We demand of pupils levels of behaviour that show respect for themselves and others in speech and conduct.
• Teachers have direct responsibility for discipline within their jurisdiction and may administer appropriate sanctions. Each offence is clearly discussed with the child.
• We have a Standard of Conduct Form for the Senior students to sign with their parents, showing their willingness to co-operate with the school and its requirements.
• The Head Teacher deals with the most serious matters or repeated offences.
Parents will be invited to discuss the problem with the Head, Supervisor and student. The Head Teacher may decide to consult the Governors.
• The Head Teacher reserves the right to request the immediate removal of any pupil whose standard of behaviour has an adverse effect upon the rest of the school and the school’s reputation.
We use a system of merits and demerits. Minor offences earn demerits. Three demerits and major offences earn a detention. Further offences might merit parent conferences and suspension. Equally we aim to balance the negatives with great praise and reward, given that the students are conforming to the rules. We have a series of incentives and awards that are awarded on a daily, weekly, termly and yearly basis.

COMPLAINTS
Whilst we constantly strive to ensure a standard of educational excellence, there may be times when we are perceived to fail to meet these expectations. Should this happen, we encourage parents to bring such matters to our attention immediately and to avoid gossip. We want the school to retain its high standards and to comply with its responsibility to take care of the children in our charge. The steps for complaints are:
• Gently and politely inform the person responsible that you are unhappy
• If you are still unhappy ask for an appointment with the Head Teacher, or write
a note to the Head Teacher
• If this doesn’t settle your dispute, ask for an appointment with the governors,
Head Teacher and people concerned.
• If the dispute directly involves your child they may be consulted during the meeting, but for the most part they will not remain part of the meeting.
• We ask that throughout the process you will try to seek peaceful reconciliation, remembering our brotherly love.
• Health and Safety Policy
SAFETY
Safety of the children is of paramount importance. Safety checks are made on a regular basis, with fire drills, and supervision of outdoor playtimes and other outdoor activities.
CHAPEL AND DEVOTIONS
Once a week staff and students gather together to participate in chapel. From time to time special speakers are included in the chapel time.
Four times a week, special time is given to Bible reading and discussion. Here emphasis is on character traits to encourage growth in a student’s personal faith and walk in Jesus Christ. Students are also encouraged in prayer, witness and the memorisation of scripture.
